A new luxury furniture store is coming to Rancho Mirage, one that will be an extension of Rapport International Furniture’s contemporary marketplace “filled with distinctive and exclusive brands.”

The new location, Rapport owner and chief visionary officer Peter Skaaning said, is slated to open late this year or early next year; a tentative date of Dec. 16 is set for opening but subject to change. It will be similar to the location in Palm Desert’s El Paseo.

“This time we are on Highway 111 in Rancho Mirage, which is quite a deal because everybody knows where Highway 111 is,” Skaaning said.

Dining furniture is a hot commodity for Rapport this time of year, with people gearing up for holiday gatherings, and Skaaning expects it to be a popular purchase in Rancho Mirage. He looks forward to another place to do business in the desert.

“The desert has been very good for us and to us. We would like to bring even more exciting things to the desert in return. This new store is more geared towards the valley resident,” Skaaning said, noting that a large portion of the El Paseo clientele is country clubs and second homes. “This new store here is more of a year-round affair, with very reasonable prices.”

Three new brands will be introduced to the desert at the Rancho Mirage store: KARE Joy of Living, Natuzzi Editions and Rapport Essentials.

Rancho Mirage will be the second U.S. store to showcase KARE, a German furniture line.

Natuzzi Editions is related to the brand Natuzzi Italia; the former is a more affordable rendition of the latter, Skaaning said.

“In El Paseo we have Natuzzi Italia which is like Lexus, and then we will have the Toyota dealership in Rancho Mirage,” he laughed, “meaning Natuzzi Editions.”

Skaaning likened Rapport Essentials to Restoration Hardware: a sleek, modern take on barn/farmhouse/rustic looks.

Also featured in the new Rancho Mirage store will be an al fresco showroom for Couture International, a French line of outdoor furniture, which Skaaning said has already sold phenomenally well in the desert even just out of catalogues.

Meanwhile, La Quinta will soon house the first ever Rapport To-go, an outlet version of the store selling overstock, out-of-season, floor model, unpaired, value-buy-last-chance furniture.

Rapport has been providing landmark contemporary furnishings since 1946, originating from Denmark. Skaaning has spent the last decade identifying powerful, beautiful, unique statement pieces and brands that are “unique and heirloom quality.”

“Here at Rapport International Furniture, we know how important expressing your individuality in your home is to you,” Skaaning said. “That is why we work tirelessly to identify brands who create pieces that will allow you to do just that. When you partner with us, you can feel confident that you have access to a team of talented designers and an inventory of contemporary furnishings that will help make your space elegant and timeless.”

Rancho Mirage’s location will be at 72027 CA-111 South. Updates on Rapport’s new openings can be found on its website.

“The Rapport team are passionately committed to help clients create the interiors of their dreams and they, with [my] guidance, help transform rooms into individual, unique and extraordinary spaces,” Skaaning said.
